STAND Canada is a national advocacy organization that advocates to make preventing and ending genocide a cornerstone of Canadian foreign policy. We are dedicated to providing Canadians with the educational and advocacy tools that they need to take action toward a world without genocide.

The Role

As the Website Manager, you are responsible for maintaining the appearance and content of the website and ensure that it is functional. A new website is planned, and the Website Manager will provide technical support to that project.

Key Responsibilities

The Website Manager will be expected to:

  • Offer technical support in relation to updating and maintaining the STAND Canada website and STAND’s Google Apps services
  • Perform Google Apps and webhosting maintenance as necessary. Communicate with the Communications Directors and Executive Directors on replacement of old technology as required, including increasing the security of the website
  • Ensure that website content (ie: the calendar, new pages) are uploaded to the server in a timely manner (within 48 business hours)
  • Routinely verify the functionality and suitability of website content, including online forms, images, and layout
  • Liaise with external technical personnel in our webhost and domain registrar to ensure the continued operation and quality of STAND’s online operations
  • Develop new functionalities for STAND’s website, as requested by the Executive Director and Communications Director; work on long-term technical projects as required
  • Collaborate with the Communications Directors on how to advertise donations on the website better, including integrating fundraising software to the website
  • Help create a database of pictures to use for the website with the design team by providing required image sizing requirements
  • Communicate with and respond to STAND Directors’ emails and messages in a timely manner (within 48 business hours)
  • Perform other job-related duties as required by the Communications Director or Executive Director.

Qualifications

In order to succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Must have advanced knowledge of HTML/CSS and experience with popular content management systems (particularly WordPress)
  • Must have a working knowledge of SEO, keyword strategies, copy optimisation, off-page promotion and link strategies
  • Must be familiar with Google Analytics
  • Must have experience or education in website security
  • Must be available to work to work on-call if needed
  • Web copywriting and good web communication skills (written and visual)
  • Graphics editing skills desirable, but not required beyond basics
  • Having a computer science or web development background is preferred, but not necessary
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and in a timely manner with STAND members across Canada through the internet and by telephone (within 48 hours)
  • Reliable and independent – can work under deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Experience using social media sites such as Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, and Facebook 
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines; great organizational skills and attention to detail required
